Russia sends actress and film crew to ISS to make first ‘space film’ | Abroad

The film project with the popular actress Joelia Peresild and director Klim Sjipenko seems to be part of a new kind of space race. The American space agency NASA announced last year that it wanted to make a film together with actor Tom Cruise at the international space station.

Russia now wants to be the first to implement such a unique project. There was no lack of potential participants. Roskosmos received about 3000 registrations. The choice ultimately fell on the 36-year-old actress Peresild, who is known for the 2010 film The Edge. She now has to play a role in a ‘space drama’, which is co-produced by Roskosmos and a Russian state broadcaster. They have not yet announced exactly what role the actress will get or what kind of plot can be expected.

The film crew will be trained in a reconstructed part of the ISS in the coming months. Those preparations are also filmed. The team will then fly to the ISS with a Soyuz capsule on October 5. “Wish us luck,” Peresild wrote on Instagram.
