Russia Responds to NATO’s Threat, Calling Ready Forces Combat

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Russia admitted to deploying troops to the border Ukraine as combat readiness for threats from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Because Moscow says NATO is trying to destabilize the region by deploying troops in the Baltic region and Poland since Russia annexed Crimea.

“In response to the alliance’s military activity that threatens Russia, we are taking appropriate action,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday as quoted by Antara. AFP.

Shoigu added that the troop deployment is also a war game.

The remarks come as Ukraine and its Western allies accuse Russia in recent weeks of deploying tens of thousands of troops to the border.

NATO has also asked Russia to stop sending troops to the Ukrainian border to avoid a war between the two countries.

Shoigu said NATO plans to deploy 40,000 troops and 15,000 weaponry to areas adjacent to Russia. However, NATO denies.

“For three weeks, two soldiers and three airborne units were successfully deployed to the western border of the Russian Federation in these areas to conduct combat drills,” he said.

According to him, the team is on full alert to carry out tasks to ensure national security. He said the training would be completed “in two weeks”.

Ukraine has been battling pro-Russian separatists in the country’s east since 2014 when Moscow annexed Crimea.

The conflict, which has claimed more than 13,000 lives, is burning again. In fact, both parties have signed a ceasefire agreement.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian president said there were currently 41,000 Russian troops on Ukraine’s eastern border and 42,000 troops on the Crimean peninsula.
