MOSCOW, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) – Russia does not intend to invade Ukraine as Washington invented, Russian foreign intelligence director Sergei Naryshkin said on Saturday.

The allegation is “malicious propaganda” by the US State Department, which aims to push Kiev to escalate the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Naryshkin said on a Russian television program.

Russia must remain calm and strengthen its defensive capabilities, as the United States pushes the Ukrainian authorities to attack the insurgent Donbass region, he added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also denied recent reports in the West and Ukraine about a “Russian plan of aggression against Ukraine”, saying “this hysteria is being artificially stimulated.” End
