Russia offered a new ceasefire starting at 10.00 MSK or 14.00 WIB on Tuesday (8/3). However, Ukraine has not agreed to it.

According to Russian media reports citing the Russian Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, the move shows Moscow’s readiness to open evacuation corridors from Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol.

Russia declared a ceasefire starting at 10 am (Moscow time) on March 8, and is ready to provide humanitarian corridors: from Kyiv and adjacent settlements to the Russian Federation via the territory of the Republic of Belarus to Gomel,” Russian media quoted the statement as saying. CNN.

Russia added that evacuation corridors “will also be opened from Chernihiv through Belarusian territory, from the city of Sumy along two routes to Poltava and to Russian territory, from Kharkiv to Russian territory or to Lviv, Uzhgorod, Ivano-Frankivsk. Then, humanitarian corridors will be opened from Mariupol along two routes to the territory of Russia and Zaporizhie.”

Russia said it offered to agree to an evacuation corridor plan with Ukraine at 3.00 MSK or 07.00 WIB, ahead of a ceasefire that began at 10 a.m. local time.

Previously, Russia offered to open humanitarian corridors from four cities in Ukraine on Monday (7/3) morning, local time. However, the proposal was rejected by Ukraine because the evacuation routes lead to Russia and Belarus.

The Russian army offered to open humanitarian corridors from the cities of Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mariupol and Sumy to allow civilians to escape.

“(Ukrainian civilians) will not go to Belarus and then take a plane to Russia,” Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said.

The issue of the humanitarian corridor was also discussed at the third dialogue between the two sides in Belarus on the same day. However, Russia felt that the outcome of the negotiations did not match expectations.
