Russia detected two alien drones in the air over the Black Sea. Russia is also on standby to deploy two of its fighter jets to intercept the two unspecified drones from the country that flew them.
The latest incident in the Black Sea occurred on Tuesday (22/8) local time. The incident came moments after Moscow reported destroying two Ukrainian military vessels in the waters.
“To prevent potential violations of the borders of the Russian state and to deter UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) conducting electronic reconnaissance, two Russian fighter jets were deployed,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. AFP, Wednesday (23/8/2023).
The two foreign drones detected in the air over the Black Sea were identified as MQ-9 Reaper and Bayraktar TB2 drones. It was stated that the two drones then moved away after being approached by Russian fighter jets.
“The UAV changed its flight direction and left the area where aerial reconnaissance was being carried out,” the statement added.
Tensions have reignited in the Black Sea since Russia withdrew from a deal on Ukraine grain exports in mid-July, and attacks from both sides have intensified.
Incidents involving Russian and Western military aircraft have also increased manifold in the Black and Baltic seas in recent months.
