MOSCOW, KOMPAS.com – Ministry of Defense Russia on Monday (25/4/2022), announced a ceasefire around steel factory Azovstal in Mariupol to allow the evacuation of civilians from industrial areas that have protected the resistance Ukraine remaining in the port city.
“Russian troops starting at 14.00 Moscow time (1100 GMT) on April 25, 2022, will unilaterally cease any hostilities, withdraw units to a safe distance and ensure the withdrawal of civilians,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement. AFP.

It said civilians would be taken in any direction they chose.
The Russian Defense Ministry added that the Ukrainian side should show “readiness” to start a humanitarian evacuation “by raising the white flag” in Azovstal.
According to the Ministry, this information will be communicated to people inside Azovstal “via radio channels” every 30 minutes.
Russia last week said it had complete control of the strategic eastern Ukrainian city, except for the large industrial zone Azovstal.
President Vladimir Putin himself has ordered a blockade of the steelworks, where hundreds of civilians are reported to have taken refuge with Ukrainian troops.
