Rural Minister Urges Central Government to Validate Vaccine for Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE) in Spain

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, December 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Rural Minister, José González, urges the central government to validate a vaccine against epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHE) in Spain.

In statements this Monday on the occasion of the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, with ministers of the branch, the councilor criticized the “disagreement” in the form of the call for this meeting, “without an agenda” and “in an informal manner “, instead of holding a sector conference. An issue that he identifies with “a certain abandonment of functions in these months.”

In this sense, he points out that, “now with the cold the incidence” of EHE has been reduced, but warns that “it will have an incidence again in the spring.” For this reason, he demands that “as soon as possible” this vaccine be legalized, which “can only be done through the Ministry of Agriculture.”

It also demands “flexibility” of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), with a “clear Mediterranean orientation”, since it asks for “flexibility” in the eco-regimes and for difficulties in the primary sector due to the increase in production costs. He remembers that at the time there was already a delay in the entry into force of the digital notebook.

Likewise, the councilor demands “positive fiscal discrimination” for the primary sector, which entails a reduction in taxes in personal income tax, corporations and VAT.

In this regard, González urges that Agriculture “exercise its powers and coordination tasks once and for all,” since there is a “very great concern” about livestock diseases, as well as different pests.
