Ruptured Blood Vessel Not Associated With COVID-19 – Latest News

There was news on social media that the COVID-19 vaccination could cause bleeding in the body or burst blood vessels as a side effect of the vaccine.

Responding to this information, the Director of the National Brain Center Hospital, Mursyid Bustami, confirmed that the news was not true.

He said that until now there has been no strong and valid scientific evidence that shows there is a connection between the administration of the COVID-19 vaccination and the occurrence of ruptured blood vessels.

“Regarding the information that vaccines pose a risk of causing cerebral hemorrhagic stroke, we clarified that scientifically there is no relationship between bleeding stroke and the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Mursyid.

The side effects that may arise, according to Mursyid, are still very mild and easily overcome, such as fever, pain, drowsiness, hunger and so on. These side effects usually do not last long, a maximum of 2 days after the vaccine injection.

Furthermore, he explained that about 20 percent of hemorrhagic strokes were caused by blockages in blood vessels with the main cause being due to certain high risk factors and not caused by the COVID-19 vaccine.

Mursyid revealed that the risk factors for stroke can be: common rezpector (shared risk factors) such as:

  • Diabetes

  • Hypertension

  • Bad diet

  • Smoke

  • Obesity

  • Lack of physical activity

  • Alcohol, and

  • Narcotics.

”If the bleeding stroke is usually a patient with hypertension. What happens is that the blood vessels are not strong enough to withstand high blood pressure, so there is a leak,” he said.

However, he explained that there are two risk factors related to this occurrence, namely those that can be controlled and those that cannot be controlled.

Controllable risk factors should be prevented as early as possible so as not to become a ticking time bomb in the future. Prevention efforts that can be done is to start implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle.

“Not doing activities that can cause health problems in the future such as smoking, consuming alcoholic beverages, limiting the consumption of sugar, salt and fat,” said Mursyid.

Meanwhile, the risk factors that cannot be controlled are age, genetics, gender.

Therefore, to find out this second factor, you should do regular health checks to find out your health history.

“So if there are abnormalities in the body can be identified and anticipated as early as possible,” he said.

A thorough examination is carried out to look for risk factors so that they can be controlled as soon as possible and in the right way.

The COVID-19 vaccination is a safe step to take in order to achieve herd immunity or group immunity in order to coexist with the Corona virus.

The vaccines given have gone through a long process and series. These vaccines have received an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
