Publisher XSEED Games announced the western release date of Rune Factory 5. The game that combines action RPG and farm simulator will come to Switch on February 22, 2022. In addition to the announcement, the company revealed that the western version will have the option of marriage between people of the same sex, which is better explained in a post of company blog.
The Rune Factory franchise was started in 2006 on the DS as a spin-off from the Bokujou Monogatari franchise (formerly known as Harvest Moon, now Story of Seasons). The new game tells the story of a guard whose gender can be chosen by the player. It’s up to you to protect the peace of a small village blessed by nature by performing a variety of tasks for the local population.
As the player performs tasks, it is possible to approach young men and women that it is possible to marry. In the Japanese version, the male protagonist can only marry female characters and vice versa. In the western version it will be possible to marry any of the 12 NPCs regardless of gender choice.
