Rumor: Sony has abandoned the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, development has ceased

The remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is dead. At least that’s what Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb said on his morning show Game Mess Mornings.

“I just want to make it clear that this game is not currently being worked on,” Grubb said around the 57th minute. “Just a complete stop. Work on this game is not ongoing in any form, at any studio”

The remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, announced back in 2021, has been in development from the very beginning. It was first developed by Aspyr Media, and in August 2022, Embracer Group transferred the game to Saber Interactive.

During his talk, Grubb also mentioned that the game may have even been ported over from Saber Interactive.

Since the announcement of the game’s move from Aspyr Media, no one involved has said anything about the state of the game. The only thing that has happened recently is Sony’s cleansing of social networks and YouTube from mentions of the game. Even during its quarterly earnings calls, Embracer Group did not confirm that the game was still growing.

“I’ve noticed that everything I say about this becomes a headline, so that’s my only comment,” Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said on the company’s earnings call Thursday.
