Intel may be working on a Core i9-12900KS desktop processor with a higher turbo frequency on all P cores. This is reported by anonymous sources of VideoCardz. It is a preselected Core i9-12900K chip.

Report VideoCardz Resources that the alleged Intel Core i9-12900KS achieves a boost clock of 5.2GHz on all P-cores simultaneously. The CPU has the same core numbers as the ‘regular’ Core i9-12900K, with eight powerful P-cores and eight efficient E-cores. The Core i9-12900K usually gets a boost clock of up to 4.9GHz on all P cores, VideoCardz writes.

The Core i9-12900KS will be a pre-binned cpu. Intel selects the best chips to guarantee higher clock speeds. The company has done that many times before. At the end of 2019 the ‘special edition’ came Intel Core i9-9900KS uit, which had a maximum turbo frequency of 5GHz on all eight cores and was a few bucks more expensive than the regular Core i9-9900K. Intel did not release any KS variants in its previous two CPU generations.

It is not known when Intel will officially announce its Core i9-12900KS. The company will hold a keynote address at CES in Las Vegas on January 4, at 7 p.m. Dutch time. The CPU may then be introduced. The company is expected to show its first Intel Arc desktop GPUs, Alder Lake laptop processors and Alder Lake non-K desktop CPUs.
