A message relayed on social networks created an endless queue in front of a vaccination center in New York last Thursday. He ensured that it was possible to come to be vaccinated against the coronavirus without an appointment because of a surplus of doses, reports The HuffPost.

The scene took place in front of the Brooklyn Army Terminal transformed into a 24-hour vaccination center. After receiving this message, especially via WhatsApp, hundreds of people went to the site on foot or by car. A large queue and traffic jams were then observed. Faced with this situation, the police and city officials had to intervene to disperse the crowd.

Sur Twitter, Bill Neidhardt, the spokesman for the mayor of New York, said it was a false rumor and he called on those who had moved to return to their homes. However, on social networks, some claim to have been directed to a queue “without appointment” by agents present on the spot.

“Today was an exception […] Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer walk-in tours, ”a city health worker told people waiting outside. At the same time, some people who had an appointment reported that they had not been able to receive their injection.
