Rugby. The women’s section of RC Metz-Moselle also wants to grow

In the same vein as their male counterparts, the female RC Metz-Moselle also want to be part of a high-level approach by relying on the training of young players.

For now, they are a little less than ten to train twice a week with the boys at the rugby school. “Often, they have a brother in one of our teams and that’s why they start to practice this sport” explains Hayet Pankaduz, representative of the club’s women of all age categories.

Problem, after fifteen years, the girls can no longer evolve within the RCMM. In fact, the club does not offer women’s teams in the youth categories. The players are therefore forced to go to other horizons to continue to indulge their passion. To try to remedy this problem, the departmental committee wishes to create and then engage, as quickly as possible, a women’s team in less than eighteen years bringing together the players of the territory.

Seniors aim for the rise

Limited in number of licensees last year following the end of the alliance with the Thionville-Yutz Génération Rugby Espoirs (Tygre), the senior women’s team had a complicated season in Federal 3. “At the start of the season, we There were sometimes two in training (Wednesdays and Fridays) and there were eight of us during matches, whereas normally there are ten in the field, ”concedes Hayet Pankaduz. Since the takeover, things have changed.

Now the women’s section has fourteen licensees (aged eighteen to forty-three) … and maybe more soon: “Tonight, we are expecting four new recruits” confides the Swiss army knife of the team. A reinforcement of weight, especially since the women of RC Metz-Moselle hope to reach the Federal 2 at the end of the season.
