The USBPA was soundly beaten 31-10 in Nice on Sunday afternoon. This is the first time that the Violets have not taken points since Richard Savey took over the team at the beginning of October.
The Bressans had a complicated Sunday afternoon on the Côte-d’Azur (31-10). The second half, more precisely. In the game at the end of the first half (0-3), during which they lost Téo Bordenave and Frederik Zeilinga, the Violets sank after the break. After Florent Massip allowed the USBPA to get back on track (3-3, 44′), Baptiste Lafond scored Nice’s first strong try, following a carried ball (10-3, 49′). Former Burgundy Andrzej Charlat then scored twice (17-3, 53′ then 24-3, 65′). The Azuréens scored their fourth try straight away, through Romain Riguet (31-3, 70′). The Bressans managed to get behind the Nice goal at the very end of the game (31-10, 78′), but left the offensive bonus to the Nice who took 2nd place.
After 11 days, the Violets are 12th and first non-relegation. After a two-week break, they will return to the championship Saturday December 2 in Hyères-Carqueiranne, against a club which had inflicted a scathing 40-0 on them on February 19, 2023. If they want to secure their retention in the National, Richard Savey’s men are already condemned to stock up on points.
