How to Use QRIS for Shopping in Singapore

Layanan Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) can now be used for shopping in Singapore. It’s as easy as using it in Indonesia.

detikcom tried using QRIS payments in several places, starting from Seven Eleven, KFC and Muji. All of them use QR from the Network for Electronic Transfers Singapore (NETS).

You only need to use an application from a supporting bank. No need to be confused if the shop you visit doesn’t display QRIS like in Indonesia, just follow these steps:

How to Use QRIS for Shopping in Singapore

1. When paying, ask the cashier for the QR NETS payment option, or if using the ordering machine, select the same option
2. Open a supported banking application
3. Press the QRIS button
4. Navigate to the QR that appears on the EDC machine
5. The nominal payment will appear in SGD
6. When processed, information about the total payment in rupiah will appear along with the exchange rate in effect at that time
7. If okay, all you have to do is enter the PIN
8. Once successful a receipt will come out

Easy isn’t it? So far detikcom use no additional fees are charged. However, the exchange rate for each bank is different

Currently, banks that support include Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Central Asia, CIMB Niaga Bank Mega, Bank Syariah Indonesia, Dana and Netzme.
