Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to name their newborn Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is “rude” to Queen Elizabeth II, claims royal biographer Angela Levin.
Levin suggested that the decision was a bad idea because the private nickname was given to Elizabeth by her late husband, Prince Philip. “I don’t think it’s a good idea, I think it’s quite rude to Her Majesty Her Queen,” Levin said on “Good Morning Britain.”
“Prince Charles would never dream of calling his mother Lilibet.” Lilibet’s nickname dates back to when the Queen was too young to be able to pronounce her own name, calling herself “Lilibet”.
Her parents and grandparents soon adopted the nickname, which the queen’s father, King George VI, was once quoted when saying: “Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy. “

“He added that Harry, 36,” mentioned to his grandmother “that he was going to name his daughter after him,” but I bet he didn’t say, ‘I’m going to choose Lilibet.’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose Diana as a middle name in honor of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
Others have concluded that the choice of name is a tribute to the queen in an attempt at a kind of royal reconciliation, as it means that the queen’s nickname will endure. The statement announcing her birth read: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.”
Markle, 39, gave birth to Lilibet on Friday, June 4, in Santa Barbara, California. She is the second daughter of the couple, since they are already Archie’s parents.
