RTV Stichtse Vecht – Nyenrode studs raise money for Swim with playful action

A team of 20 students from Nyenrode Business University from Breukelen registered together for Swim to Fight Cancer Stichtse Vecht on 28 August and came up with a great idea for fundraising. By having their blue Swim bathrobes sponsored and printed, the Nyenrode Studs want to collect at least €10,000 for cancer research.

Sponsoring
The student team has set itself the goal of raising €10,000 for cancer research. That’s why they came up with a unique way to raise money. They took over 20 bathrobes from Swim to Fight Cancer’s old stock. Now they are looking for sponsors who would like to have their name or logo on the back of a bathrobe for €200 per logo. 100% of the proceeds go to Swim to Fight Cancer. The team has already convinced a number of sponsors, but is still looking for many more sponsors. This summer they are trying to get companies in and outside the Stichtse Vecht enthusiastic about the sponsorship campaign.

Luuk Jonk, one of the initiators of the team, says that when the Swim organization came to Nyenrode Business University to call on people to participate, a large group was immediately enthusiastic. The team consists of bachelor’s and master’s students from Nyenrode.

Train
To start well prepared for the Swim, they have found a professional trainer willing to train the group. Luuk: “Because Nyenrode is located on the Vecht, that is standard all our bathing water, but we now want to train professionally a few times with each other”.

Fight Cancer
Fight cancer, a subsidiary of KWF, has been organizing recreational swimming events in the inland waters of large and small cities in the Netherlands for years. This year, 13 cities will be swimming for Fight Cancer. With this, Fight Cancer hopes to raise as much funding as possible for scientific research via KWF Kankerbestrijding. Fight cancer chooses to support young, talented researchers and doctors. With the donations they can gain knowledge and skills in the field of oncology at the highest level. In 2018, the event took place for the first time within Stichtse Vecht and 450 participants jumped into the fight to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. In 2019 we significantly expanded the number of participants, there were 550 adults and 200 juniors who covered the distance in the water.
