RTL 5 minutes – Deconfinement: What is changing today in Luxembourg

Many things will change in Luxembourg on May 11. Here is everything you need to know about this new phase of deconfinement.

May 11 will mark a turning point in Luxembourg’s deconfinement process. Many measures have indeed been announced by the government, starting with the full reopening of businesses. However, cinemas, sports halls and restaurants will remain closed.

Cultural places like museums, exhibition centers, archives and libraries will also be able to reopen on Monday. All this in a very strict framework including the reception of a reduced public, an online reservation system and limited access to common rooms.

Another important announcement made by Xavier Bettel on Wednesday: gatherings will be authorized again. However, there will be some restrictions. For outdoor gatherings, the limit has been set at 20 people. With regard to home events, a maximum of six guests added to the people living on site has been defined by the government.

And who says outdoors, necessarily says sport. And that’s good since a list of 32 sports which will be authorized again on Monday was unveiled by the Ministry of Sports. Among these are golf, tennis but also football. A recovery which will obviously take place under certain conditions. Indeed, it will be necessary to practice these sports “without any physical contact, in the absence of any competitive activity and without an audience. ”

Another measure announced during the week: twelve sites distribution of masks for frontier workers will open on Monday in the Grand Duchy. The persons concerned will be given free of charge a batch of 50 disposable masks upon presentation of a letter which has been sent to them by post. All details can be found in our article.

Finally, May 11 is also synonymous with resumption of classes for most of the country’s students. They will resume their studies a week later the first and final students.

WHAT DOESN’T CHANGE

The Prime Minister was formal on this point: the deconfinement will have to take place in respect for sanitary measures and barrier gestures imposed since the start of the crisis. This does not change despite the many reductions listed above.

Then, if May 11 is synonymous with returning to the office in many companies, the government asked employees on Wednesday, “especially from the private sector”, who can telework to continue doing so for the next few weeks.

Telework is therefore always highly recommended. by the Luxembourg authorities. This in order to limit travel and offer in Luxembourg a “sustainable deconfinement”.

Finally, residents will not be able to travel to neighboring countries until further notice. Indeed, France, Germany and Belgium have maintained border controls. It will therefore take a valid reason (work, medical emergency, assistance to a third party) to cross the border without being fined.
