Queen Máxima barefoot in the truck
The Dutch Queen Máxima also took place behind the wheel of a truck during a working visit this week. The queen received a short lesson and soon drove her first meters under supervision. Footage shows that she had taken off her shoes and pressed the gas barefoot.
–
The theme of the visit was ‘more women in the sector’. Máxima spoke to women at different stages of their careers as truck drivers, including a number of young women who are still in training. They showed the queen a demonstration of driving a forklift, one of the components of the training that the drivers follow. Máxima also met some lateral entrants and experienced drivers. The Queen was also updated about the sector itself. She was told that there is currently a shortage of drivers, which is partly caused by prejudices about the nature of the truck driver’s profession.
