The following month, on August 24, 2018, around 8:30 am, Luis Grilo’s body is found. Authorities are faced with the corpse of the highly decomposed triathlete more than 130 kilometers from home in Portalegre.
After several investigations, the Judicial Police concluded that the crime had not occurred where the body was found, there were signs that the corpse had been dragged.
The first and only arrests in the case take place on September 26, 2018. Rosa Grilo and her lover, António Joaquim, are detained by PJ de Lisboa. Both are charged with qualified homicide, corpse desecration and prohibited gun possession and are on trial.
