Ronnie Flex not premiering own documentary: ‘Too confrontational’ | NOW

2019 was an eventful year for rapper Ronnie Flex. Musically, things went well for him, but at the same time he struggled with paternity, depression, alcohol and drugs. He had it captured on screen for the documentary Ronnie’s flight, but found that film so confrontational that he was not in the audience on Wednesday evening during the premiere.

“I have not been in the hall”, the rapper told Wednesday in television program Jinek. “I didn’t want to see it again, because it was too confrontational.” He also found it exciting what his family and friends would say about the film, but they responded positively. “It was a warm bath,” says Flex.

The documentary, which will be shown Saturday night at NPO3, is about the other side of Flex’s success. He finds the pressure associated with fame difficult and, according to him, withdrawing weed is also more difficult because of his profession.

“Stopping is not difficult,” says Flex. “I can stop every day. For a week, two weeks, I am not even grumpy. But once three months later it is difficult to sustain. That is because of the environment I am in and the friends I have.”

In addition, weed helps him in his own words with his work: “If I have smoked a joint I can sit and make music for nine hours in a focused way.”

On the other hand, Flex suffers from panic attacks, which he believes are exacerbated by weed and the pressure he experiences from the music industry. “I think I can help myself by getting some rest. There is so much pressure. I think I should spend a month on a tropical island.”

Flex indicates that he would like to improve his life, to be a good example for his daughter. “The whole event around Ronnie Flex is not worth much at all. She is. She makes me a better person every day.”

Ronnie’s flight can be seen on Saturday 7 March at 22:05 on NPO 3
