While Lionel Messi had held the record for the most beloved Instagram publication since his arrival at PSG, Cristiano Ronaldo reappropriated it by announcing the future birth of his twins.
The record belonged to Lionel Messi, since August 11. The Argentinian had posted a photo on Instagram where he posed on the lawn of the Parc des Princes with the PSG jersey. A photo that has become the most liked sports publication in the history of the social network, with more than 22 million “likes”. The six-time Ballon d’Or had already appropriated this record a few weeks earlier after winning the Copa America for the very first time. His photo with the trophy had collected more than 20.8 million “likes”, exceeding Cristiano Ronaldo. In November 2020, the Portuguese had obtained nearly 20 million for a photo with Diego Maradona after the disappearance of the illustrious Argentine player. But “CR7” has just recovered this record.
The Portuguese, who has 340 million subscribers on Instagram, against 277 million for Messi, announced a happy event. “Happy to announce that we are expecting twins. Our hearts are filled with love. We can’t wait to meet you,” the Manchester United player wrote in the caption of a photo where he poses in bed with his partner Georgina Rodriguez , holding an ultrasound in your hand.
