According to the European justice organization Eurojust, the gang also struck the ferry from Sweden to Finland. While the driver was elsewhere on the ship, the Romanians removed smartphones and other items from the car.
1.6 million euros
Eurojust estimates that in this way they stole 1.6 million euros worth of things in 2016 and 2017. They mainly sold their loot in Romania. Part of the stolen items were found during house searches.
The Dutch police were also involved in the international police action. 71 homes of suspects were searched throughout Europe. It is not clear how many homes have been raided in the Netherlands.
