British singer Roger Waters appeared wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh at his last concert in Uruguay, a few days ago.
Waters, one of the founders of the famous rock band Pink Floyd, has been known for his advocacy of the Palestinian cause for years. He has been one of the most prominent voices denouncing the Israeli war in Gaza since the worst conflict in the Middle East in decades was renewed on October 7.
At his concert in the capital, Montevideo, pictures of the effects of the violent bombing in Gaza appeared on giant screens behind Waters, 80, who said earlier that he would continue his attack on Israel and its policies in the West Bank and Gaza until he died “unless they change their position and give the indigenous people their rights and return The land between the Jordan River and the sea. The issue is simple,” he said.

In response to a question about the justification for the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, which led to the death of about 1,300 civilians, Waters said that he did not know what they did, but he justified their “resistance to the occupation” as a legitimate right.
In a recent interview with journalist Glenn Greenwald, Waters said that the surprise attack by Hamas militants in occupied Palestine “was blown out of proportion because the Israelis made up stories about beheading children.”
Waters has faced accusations of anti-Semitism for years, including criticism from the US government earlier this year. The State Department said Waters had a “long record of using anti-Semitic tropes to denigrate the Jewish people,” AFP reported.
