Roger Guillaumin, 66 years old, 250 trails and 312 marathons on the clock

Roger Guillaumin, 66, from Isérois and originally from the Loire, is at the start of the 6D lacs, a 28 km trail and 1500 m drop in La Plagne this Friday July 29 : “I feel like I’m still 40 years old, surely faculties at the start, I don’t know where they come from, because my parents aren’t athletic. There is also work, weeks where I would run 100 km, it was not uncommon for me a few years ago.“

For him, there is no question of spending a week without competition: “my records, it is 16 marathons in 16 weekends in a row. I have always played sports, even as a teenager. But after 30 years, I started competitions. I have hardly stopped for 37 years.“

This year, 400 people are taking part in the 6D lacs. Au 22eme kilometer, the climb is tough for the former mechanic teacher, but he quickly regains his stride:“I went up relatively gently the first part and I had a good run, I did that 5-6 minutes more than four years ago, so I’m happy.“

The happiness of finishing in good condition, of not having broken your face, there is great satisfaction.

With more than 300 marathons and 250 trails covered, he even impresses the organizers. Cedric Lathoud is the drace director: I’m amazed by this sporting life, doing marathons every year is the challenge for a person in his life, for him it’s a weekly challenge, I think it’s really great.”

After 3 hours and a half of effort, he crossed the finish line. “The happiness of finishing in good condition, of not having broken your face, there is great satisfaction.“
