A new version of GTA 5 will debut next year, which will use the full power of the next generation, but Rockstar has already decided to remind players of the possibility of playing the studio games on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. Everything is possible thanks to backward compatibility.

GTA Online and Red Dead Online are recording exceptional resultsbut the arrival of a new generation should not disturb the interest in Rockstar productions. The developers want to be sure that players will buy microtransactions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S in November. For this reason, a message has been prepared in which the company confirms full backward compatibility support.
The creators emphasize that GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 or LA Noire work on PS5 and XSX | S – players can use physical versions or reach for digital editions.
“Regardless of the console you choose, you can continue the game on new hardware. Game save files or entire games can be transferred via a LAN cable, wirelessly or transferred to a USB drive. You can also transfer your latest cloud file linked to your PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live account. Before you launch the game on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X | S, please make sure that Cloud Save on your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is turned on. “
Progress and achievements from Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online will also transfer, but we must use the same PlayStation Network and Xbox Live account.
Owners of the Xbox Series X | S will be able to play several classics in:
- Bully: Scholarship Edition
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- Midnight Club: Los Angeles
- Red Dead Redemption
- Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis
However, on PlayStation 5 we will enable the titles from PlayStation 2 that are available on PlayStation 4:
- Bully
- Grand Theft Auto III
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
- Manhunt
- Max Payne
- Red Dead Revolver
- The Warriors
Next year, GTA 5 will receive full support for the next-genes.
