In addition to superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, other well-known footballers play in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, which is still insignificant in terms of sport – and now Roberto Firmino too. But which club did he sign with?

The next football star is moving to Saudi Arabia: Roberto Firmino is moving to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, as the club announced late Tuesday evening. The 31-year-old Brazilian does not cost the club a fee because his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of June. However: Like other top players who moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, the former Bundesliga professional at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim should have secured a handsome salary for his three-year contract.

Firmino, who moved from Hoffenheim to Liverpool in 2015 for 41 million euros, meets goalkeeper Edouard Mendy at the club from Jeddah. The Senegalese international goalkeeper had previously joined Al-Ahli from Chelsea.

Some soccer stars now in Saudi Arabia

Since the move of the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to the Kingdom of Al-Nassr, other stars have signed contracts in the still insignificant league. Croatia’s Marcelo Brozovic also joined Al-Nassr, while Frenchmen Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté and Portuguese Jota signed with Al-Ittihad. Kalidou Koulibaly from Senegal will wear the jersey of Al-Hilal from now on. Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard will also join Al-Ettifaq.
