Robert (15) wants to free birdie, is himself stuck for hours: ‘Also funny again’ | Inland

When Robert Gildemacher was hanging out with his friends on the Kolkplantsoen in Oostzaan on Tuesday evening, his attention was drawn by a bird that was trapped in the highest tree in the courtyard. Encouraged by the peers present, the teenager came to the rescue of the poor animal. “I saw that the bird was stuck with its wing and decided to help”, says Robert.

Not much later, however, the roles were reversed. “I got stuck with my foot and the bird had flown away by now.” In all, Robert spent quite some time in the high tree. “I was there for more than 2 hours.” It took the fire brigade a lot of effort to fish the brave dodo from the tree. “They had to cut away the branch I was stuck in, that took a while.”

There was no fear. “I often do crazy things like this.” But this time it was Robert not for the entertainment of his friends, but for the good of the bird. At the fire brigade they could eventually laugh about it, according to Robert. “They said it was a pretty stupid move. But they also thought it was funny. ”
