Ralph Mupita, the current CFO of the MTN Group, has been chosen to take on the role of CEO, replacing Rob Shuter. He will take office on September 1, 2020. The new head of the South African telecom group will be able to count on the support of the outgoing, until the beginning of next year.
MTN’s Chairman of the Board said this choice is the result of a rigorous research process. “After a rigorous and in-depth research process, we are pleased to have appointed someone of Ralph’s caliber, experience and skill to take on the role of Group President and CEO. “
He also mentioned the solid knowledge of MTN’s business and markets, as well as the good results of the new CEO as head of the finance department. An engineer and MBA by training, Ralph Mupita was previously at the head of a company called Old Mutual Emerging Markets, which operated in 19 countries on three continents.
