Roadster fans have to be patient: Tesla’s electric sports car will probably only be launched after the cyber truck 13.05.20

Already in 2017, the electric car manufacturer Tesla presented its roadster electric sports car in a large-scale event. But as it now seems, fans will have to wait longer before they can experience the acceleration miracle themselves.

• Tesla with a turbulent week
• Elon Musk polarized on Twitter
• Tesla Roadster probably not available until 2022

The e-car manufacturer Tesla has had a turbulent week. After the electrical pioneer was only able to surprise with black numbers at the latest quarterly release, the Tesla share came under extreme pressure when CEO Elon Musk announced via his Twitter account that he found his company’s stock market price too high. The stock closed 10 percent lower at around $ 700.

And even in the midst of the ongoing Corona crisis, the e-visionary seems to be losing patience. The background to this is the strict contact restrictions that still apply in the state of California, and in particular a decision by the Alameda district near San Francisco that further delayed the reopening of the Tesla plant in Fremont, which was planned before June. Musk in turn cleared his anger via Twitter, even threatening to move his company’s headquarters and future projects to Texas or Nevada “immediately”. He also said Tesla had filed a lawsuit against the district’s decision.

Tesla’s roadster only in stores later?

Now Tesla fans are getting another bad news. As the CEO Elon Musk recently revealed in an interview with Joe Rogan, the production of the Roadster, which was originally introduced in 2017, could be postponed further. At that time it was said that the sports car would be available in 2020, but it doesn’t look like that anymore. Because before the acceleration miracle could really start, there were still numerous milestones that had to be worked through beforehand. According to Musk, this includes an increase in production of the Model Y, the construction of the gigafabrik in Berlin and the expansion of the Shanghai plant and the production of the Tesla Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi. The Corona crisis would also have contributed to the fact that the schedule would have been somewhat delayed.

First of all, the Tesla Cybertruck comes onto the market

As Musk put it: “The roadster is something like dessert. First we have to put the potatoes, the meat and the vegetables on the plate”. When asked by moderator Rogan whether the sports car would come out before the cybertruck, Musk indicated that it would make more sense to launch the cybertruck first. If you consider that the cyber truck should not be available until the end of 2021, this could mean a start date for 2022 for the roadster. However, the Tesla CEO did not want to reveal any more details. For Tesla fans, it means waiting now.
