Governor West Java Ridwan Kamil or who is familiarly called Emil has officially registered to become a volunteer Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials made by a company from China, Sinovac.
This was confirmed by the Field Manager of the Covid-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial of Padjadjaran University, Eddy Fadlyana.
“It’s true (already registered), the same as ordinary people,” said Eddy when contacted by reporters, Saturday (8/8).
Eddy did not explain where and when Emil enrolled as a vaccine research subject. But certainly, he said, the name of the former mayor of Bandung was included in the clinical trial volunteer registries.
“Again entered into the system. I’ll find out where the place is. Only what I saw was the name there, “he said.
Previously, Ridwan Kamil was reported to have volunteered to become a volunteer for the Covid-19 vaccine test from Sinovac. He even claimed that the leaders in the West Java Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) were also ready to volunteer for the human vaccine test.
Emil said the leaders in West Java were formulating this.
“If there is no obstacle from the personal health element, then Forkopimda and I will volunteer for vaccine testing,” Emil said in a press conference at Makodam III / Siliwangi, Bandung City, Monday (3/8).
According to Emil, this leadership initiative in West Java will be a good example for the community and increase confidence that the vaccine test conducted by BUMN PT Bio Farma will run smoothly.
“If the leadership also does it, God willing, the people will also be sure that the vaccine (clinical trial) process will run smoothly,” he said.
The clinical trial of the vaccine from China will be carried out at the Clinical Testing Center, namely the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University, which will take a sample of 1,620 people, ranging in age from 18 to 59 years.
In the clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine, Bio Farma acts as a sponsor by collaborating with various parties, including the Indonesian Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) of the Ministry of Health as medical advisor (medical advisor) and performing a neutralizing antibody titer test.
In addition, Bio Farma also collaborates with BPOM RI as a regulator and FK Unpad as an institution with experience in implementing vaccine clinical trials in Indonesia.
Phase three clinical trial activities will begin on August 11, 2020 in Bandung City.
