RIVM makes a report to the Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate for a “misleading commercial appeal” to women not to be vaccinated against whooping cough. The institute confirms this after reporting RTL News.
‘Miss Natural Lifestyle’, an alias of Eva van Zeeland, did a online call in which she looks for a hundred “expectant mothers who consciously choose not to be vaccinated during their pregnancy”. They could then win a Versapers blender. The Dutch company seems to be participating in the promotion, op the Versapers website the win action too.
State Secretary for Health Paul Blokhuis warns of fantasy stories about vaccinations. “Every year, 170 babies with whooping cough are admitted to the hospital,” he writes on Twitter. “That’s why we have the 22-week prick for pregnant women.”
“Remarkable call”
The RIVM calls the call remarkable. “It’s not okay, but we don’t know if this is allowed,” says a spokesperson. “That’s why we made a report to the IGJ.”
SP Member of Parliament Maarten Hijink speaks of an “idiotic call” on Twitter. “Invite one hundred pregnant women not to be vaccinated against dangerous infectious diseases. Put your child’s health at risk to win a f * kking blender. Don’t!”
