The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) asks not only users, but also midwives, gynecologists and general practitioners to report. This is possible at the Reporting Center and Expertise Center for Side Effects Implants (MEBI), through this link.
In one year, the institute received 33 reports about the contraceptive, which has been available since April 2019. The number of is relatively much, according to the RIVM, and there are concerns about efficiency.

There is no data on how often Ballerine has been placed in the meantime. The vast majority of reports (31) were mainly about (partial) expulsion of the IUD. Women have also accidentally gotten pregnant. How much can the RIVM not say.
Other complaints, such as perforation of the uterus by the IUD, were reported less frequently.

MEBI wants to ‘keep a close eye on the possible side effects of this IUD and, in order to be able to compare better, also know experiences with other copper IUDs, a common method. Incidentally, expulsion, perforation of the uterus and pregnancy occur with all IUDs.
MEBI was founded in 2017 with the aim of identifying possible side effects of implants at an early stage.
