Three new cars unveiled…Scheduled for sale in the first half of 2026

Rivian Automotive, an electric truck manufacturer known as a rival to Tesla, released three new models and halted construction of a plant in Georgia, causing its stock price to surge 13%.
On the 7th (local time), Rivian held a new car unveiling event in Laguna Beach, California, USA and unveiled the new SUV R2. The company also unveiled additional crossover hatchback vehicles called R3 and R3X.
R2 will go on sale in the first half of 2026, and the price is expected to start at $45,000. The driving range can be 300 miles on a single charge.
Considering that the R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck, which are already on sale, start at $70,000, it is a much more popular product.
The R3, which was surprisingly unveiled on this day, is expected to be sold at a cheaper price than the R2. It is the same platform as the R2, but in a hatchback form with a lower height.
“These products are our future,” Robert RJ Scaring explained during a live event held in Laguna Beach.

Rivian announced in a press release today that it will reduce costs by $2.25 billion by moving production of the R2 from its plant in Illinois. Construction of the Georgia plant, which was originally supposed to produce the R2, has been temporarily halted.
Rivian’s stock price soared 13% as favorable reviews of the new car and news of factory construction ceased. However, as demand for electric vehicles has decreased, Rivian’s stock price has fallen 90% since listing in 2021.
