Some have made it to professional football, most have made careers in the bronze category and a few have already hung up their boots

Ten years after the last ascent of the Celta Bin June 2023, most of the protagonists have made long careers in the third category of Spanish football, a handful of them have reached the professional soccer and a few have already hung up their boots.

Rubén Blanco (Mos, 1995)

Just a few weeks after being the protagonist of the 4% permanence, Rubén Blanco also put himself under the sticks in the Celta B match for promotion. The following year, he added thirty games with the subsidiary in Segunda B while training with a first team to which he finally passed in the 2014/2015 season. In this time, he has added 121 games and more than 10,700 minutes in the First Division, alternating stages as a starter and others as a substitute, apart from having suffered several injuries. After going blank in the 2021/2022 campaign, in the shadow of Matías Dituro, last year he went on loan to Olympique de Marseille after renewing before until 2027.

Kevin Vazquez (Nigrán, 1993)

The other survivor in the club of that Celta B who left the Third behind is Kevin Vázquez. The nigranés spent five seasons in the subsidiary, already in Segunda B, adding many minutes and becoming captain, until the opportunity for the first team came to him, in the summer of 2018. In this time, although with few minutes, he has achieved being an important player in the locker room and also one of the captains. He has just renewed his contract for two seasons, until 2025.

Víctor Vázquez, Churre (Marín, 1989)

After five years in the subsidiary, Víctor Vázquez, Churre, did not continue in the entity from Vigo and headed for Racing de Ferrol, where he spent another five years. He has been defending the Pontevedra shirt for the same time, but this stage will be longer, since his continuity in the maroon team has already been confirmed for next season, in which he will be a member of the Second Federation.

David Soto (Ourense, 1993)

David Soto continued two more seasons at Celta B after promotion, ending his time at the club from Vigo in 2015. His immediate destination was Almería B, to return to Galicia the following season, forming part of Boiro’s squad first and Cerceda later. The 2018/2019 season took him to Lorca and then he spent two years at Compostela, to which he has just returned after a couple of seasons wearing the colors of Pontevedra.

Diego Maceira (Vigo, 1990)

One of the two from that starting eleven who are already retired is Diego Maceira, and not because of age. He was 28 years old when he decided to hang up his boots, five years after he was part of the promotion that marks ten. He stayed in Vigo in 2013/2014, adding thirty games, and then headed to Racing de Ferrol, where he completed what would be the last four seasons of his career. He settled in Ferrol and completed his studies as an industrial engineer, a profession he practices.

Anton de Vicente (Vigo, 1989)

Despite his celestial past, the name of Antón de Vicente is closely linked to Coruxo, for which he had already passed before signing for Celta B, where he was for two courses. Later, in the summer of 2014, he signed for Burgos and then spent two seasons at Somozas. He has just signed for Compostela after the seven seasons of which his second stint with the O Vao team consists, which did not have the desired ending.

Borja Dominguez (Vigo, 1992)

Borja Domínguez was in the first two seasons of the subsidiary in Second B after promotion and, later, he went on loan to Racing de Ferrol. Although he dreamed of an opportunity in the first team, it did not come and his destiny was Córdoba, with which he made his debut in the Second Division. Later, he has also played in the silver category with Oviedo, Alcorcón and Lugo, but without finishing settling down and having had significant setbacks in the form of injuries. In the 2018/2019 season he looked for minutes with a loan in Pontevedra, where he returned last season, signing until 2024. In the previous one, also in the First Federation, he was at Racing Santander.

David Añón (A Coruña, 1989)

David Añón spent two seasons at Celta B: the promotion season and the following season. Later, he went through Boiro, Somozas, Pontevedra, Polish GKS Katowice, Coruxo in a first stage and Talavera de la Reina. Last summer he returned to the green team, where he will continue to compete in the Second Federation next season. He adds more than 300 games between Segunda B, First Federation and the category in which he played last year.

Levy Madinda (Libreville, Gabon, 1992)

Madinda did not play for B again after promotion, but he did continue to be linked to the club, enjoying some opportunities in the first team. With this he came to play 29 games in the First Division between 2013 and 2016. He lived a season and measured on loan at Nástic, between January 2016 and the end of the following season, when he parted ways. He began a globetrotting stage there that led him to the Greek Asteras Tripoli; Turkish clubs Ümraniyespor, Keciörengücü and Giresunspor and Malaysian clubs Sabah FC, Johor and N. Sembilan FC, where he is on loan from Johor until December.

Santi Mina (Vigo, 1995)

The trajectory of Santi Mina is one of the best known, but it remains in the background before the sentence to four years in prison for sexual abuse on which a final decision will be made – confirm or revoke it – on July 13. He reached the first team, was transferred to Valencia -of which he was a player when the events for which he was convicted occurred- and returned to Vigo in 2019. Last season, once there was a conviction, he was loaned to Saudi Al Shabab .

Camochu (Boal, Asturias, 1989)

The other member of the starting lineup for the Gobela game who has already hung up his boots is Camochu, who played his last game as a Celtic on June 29, 2013, after two seasons. He played in the following years in Second B in Avilés, UD Logroñés, Lealtad, Burgos, Coruxo and Caudal, before living his only experience abroad in Australian Auckland City. Back in Spain, he donned the Urraca FC and Santa Coloma jerseys before hanging up his boots in 2020.

Aitor García (Gibraleón, Huelva, 1994)

Recent signing of the Mexican Juárez, Aitor García wore light blue between 2012 and 2014 and continued in the same category with Toledo, Almería B and Mérida. Later, he made the leap to Segunda, where he has played for Cádiz, Rayo Majadahonda and, in the last five seasons, for Sporting de Gijón. He accumulates a total of 229 matches in the silver category.

Thaylor Lubanzadio (Bilbao, 1994)

Between 2012 and 2015, Thaylor Lubanzadio belonged to Celta, who from Vigo went to CD Vitoria and later played in Second B and Third, in a list of clubs made up of UD Logroñés, Real Unión, Caudal, Basconia, Coruxo, Portugalete and Hibernians FC from Malta, to which he arrived in 2021, with which his contract ends and from which he has already said goodbye.

Rubén Martínez (Mahon, 1989)

Rubén Martínez played in Second B without interruption between 2013 and 2020 with Alcoyano, Sant Andreu, La Hoya Lorca, Llagostera, Melilla and UD Logroñés, with whom he would get promoted and have the opportunity to debut in Second. His next club was Albacete, with which he was part of a new promotion to the silver category, playing for it again for a few months. Last January he landed at PAS Lamia, with which he has another year on his contract ahead of him.

Jordan Dominguez (Salvaterra, 1995)

Next will be Jordan Domínguez’s third season at Compostela. His first three seasons in Segunda B were with Celta B, where he stayed until 2016, before going through Toledo and Murcia. His first experience abroad was with Finnish Helsinki for a few months, followed by a stint at Conquense and a second trip outside the borders of Spain, this time to Niki Volou, where he stayed for two years before signing for his current club, with which he has just renewed.

David Costas (Chapela, 1995)

The roundel David Costas has not lost track in these ten years, as he has settled in professional football. He debuted in the First Division with Celta, but he did not finish consolidating himself and where he has established himself is in Oviedo, with which he has extended his contract until 2013. He was loaned out by the team from Vigo in Mallorca, Oviedo, Barcelona B and Almería, always in Second, where he accumulates 156 games.

Jonny (Vigo, 1994)

Jonny Otto’s participation had been testimonial, because he moved to the first team due to the loss of Hugo Mallo. And he came to stay in the celestial discipline until the summer of 2018, when he was transferred to Atlético de Madrid. But he never got to dress as a mattress maker, because that same summer he was loaned to Wolverhampton, who took ownership of him months later and where he continues, with a contract until 2025. Although punished by injuries, he is a centenary in the Premier League.

Marcos Torres (Vigo, 1992)

Among those who said goodbye to Celta after 2013/2014 is Marcos Torres, who later ended up in La Hoya Lorca, Avilés, Cacereño, Sanluqueño and San Roque Lepe. His stage in this last club ended a year ago.

Sergio Santos (Mos, 1993)

Sergio Santos did not play in Second B with Celta B, but he did play with Rápido de Bouzas years later, in 2018/2019. In the aurinegro club he played in two stages, with an intermediate step through Arousa. His last club, until 2021, was Alondras, which he arrived after having gone through Céltiga and Choco.

Sergio Maestre (Barcelona, ​​1990)

A Celta footballer only in the promotion season, Sergio Maestre played in the following years in Second B with Badalona, ​​Olot, Cornellá, Murcia and Badajoz. In these last two seasons he has been in Albacete, the first in the First Federation and the second, in the Second, a category in which he debuted at the age of 32, adding 14 games. Captain of the team, he has renewed after not being able to have much prominence due to injuries.

Felix Rial (Vigo, 1990)

Recent European champion with the Galician amateur team, Félix Rial will continue his career at Alondras, in the Third Federation, after the relegation of Choco, where he had been since 2015. In his career, after breaking ties with the sky-blue subsidiary ten years ago now, Novelda and Cultural Areas also appear.

Benja Gómez (Nigrán, 1991)

The youth squad Benja Gómez, with little prominence in that year of promotion, made a career in Galician football. Pontevedra, Alondras and Porriño, where he was for five years and until 2021, are the teams that are part of his later career. In between, he also wore the aurinegra shirt of the Rápido de Bouzas.

Moreira (Oak, 1989)

José Antonio Moreira retired in 2021 with Estudiantil as the last team of his football career. A career that took him to Pontevedra, Bergantiños, Adarve -with which he starred in videos teaching Galician to his teammates during clashes against his former team-, Racing de Ferrol and Barco. He trained as a coach and is still linked to football as an analyst.

Oscar Santiago (Santander, 1991)

Arriving at Celta B that season, goalkeeper Óscar Santiago stayed two more seasons, until 2015. Later, he had more opportunities in Second B with Racing de Santander, Balompédica Linense, Caudal, Lleida, Talavera, Estudiantil and, currently, Formentera , in Second Federation.
