A tanker and a river cruise ship collided at the Rhine bridge near Wesel. Seven people were slightly injured, but were able to get back on the cruise ship after outpatient treatment, said a spokesman for the water protection police on Wednesday morning.
The ships were traveling in opposite directions. Only minor damage to property occurred in the accident on Tuesday evening. Both ships were able to continue their journey later.
How the accident came about is still under investigation. Previously, “Bild” had cited the “Neue Ruhr Zeitung”. The excursion ship had 160 people on board, some from the USA, Canada and Australia, and had been on a 14-day trip from Budapest to Amsterdam, the “Neue Ruhr Zeitung” reported. The Rhine promenade was closed on Tuesday evening.
