Rivaldo has made allegations against the management of FC Barcelona. From an economic point of view, it was not smart to keep Lionel Messi (33), who was willing to leave the club. “The club management made a mistake because Messi was not sold when he was still under contract,” said the 48-year-old in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Sport.
Instead, his ex-club should have acted similarly to Real Madrid when Cristiano Ronaldo was transferred to Juventus Turin two years ago for a € 117 million transfer fee. “They should have done something similar to Real Madrid with Ronaldo. They sold their superstar and earned around 100 million euros,” said the world footballer in 1999.
