Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, said that the former Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil was offered the vice presidential position by the PDIP Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri when the two met. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the meeting discussed the Bung Karno monument in Bandung, West Java.
“The meeting with Mr. Ridwan Kamil was held to discuss several important matters related to the Bung Karno monument because Mr. Ridwan Kamil was able to inflame all the threads of Bung Karno’s struggle which inflamed the spirit of nationalism and love for the country in Bandung,” said Hasto at High End, Jakarta. Center, Wednesday (13/9/2023).
Hasto said that the meeting held by Megawati was normal. According to him, it is a tradition of friendship.
“So these meetings are commonplace and part of the tradition of friendship and part of the nation’s culture,” he explained.
When asked whether the meeting also offered a vice presidential candidate, Hasto said that the names of the existing vice presidential candidates emerged from the survey results. He did not rule out the possibility that other names would emerge.
“Yes, all the names that appeared were voiced by people who were captured through a survey, all of them still have the status of potential vice presidential candidates, is it possible for names other than those already circulating to appear?” he said.
“Empirically, in 2019 different names emerged, of course those that have been voiced by the people will be scrutinized deeply and carefully by Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri,” he added.
Previously, Golkar Party Deputy General Chair (Waketum) Ahmad Doli Kurnia said that former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (RK) had been invited by PDIP Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri. Doli said that at that time it was conveyed if Ridwan Kamil offered the position of vice presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo.
“Yesterday (the issue of RK being Ganjar’s vice presidential candidate) became stronger, when Mr. Ridwan Kamil got the information, Mr. Ridwan Kamil told our general chairman that he had been summoned, invited by Mrs. Megawati. Well, then he was offered to become vice president, which then sparked a new issue, right? ” said Doli to journalists at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/9).
Doli said that after the meeting, RK also said that there would be an unexpected event or breaking news in the following week. Doli said Golkar was in a position to not change its decision regarding the 2024 presidential election.
“So regarding the presidential election, we have not changed our decision until now. The only name for us to nominate as presidential or vice presidential candidate is still Mr. Airlangga Hartato,” said Doli.
