RI will be the country with the fourth largest economy in the world by 2045

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said Indonesia will become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2045.

“Growth Indonesian economy until 2045 the average is 5 percent. Eventually we will become the fourth largest country economically in the world,” Erick said in a video uploaded to his Instagram account @erickthohir, Tuesday (12/7/2022).

Erick said that the younger generation is the spearhead who will ensure this achievement. Therefore, Erick believes that the younger generation must take advantage of existing opportunities, such as education and professionalism.

“The challenge for the current generation is not to be busy with movement, but to be busy filling those opportunities with education and professionalism as well as new Indonesian entrepreneurs,” he said.

He explained that today’s young generation needs contextual movement and it is not enough just to be routine. According to him, young people must also be creative and able to solve problems, so as to create a generation that is able to compete.

“It’s not enough just to be routine, but activism must be added to the attitude of professionalism, creative spirit, and able to solve problems. Time is moving, make sure we are in the front row,” said Erick.

Previously, Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Indonesia wanted to achieve a long-term vision to become a developed country by 2045.

However, he said, Indonesia needed to carry out an economic transformation. The National Capital Development (IKN) is said to be one of the drivers of Indonesia’s economic transformation.

“If we look at one of the foundations of our economy that still requires great attention, it is in terms of productivity. Productivity can be explained from the quality of human resources (human resources), such as education and health, which have become our concern during this pandemic, and also from the side of bureaucratic infrastructure, and from the side of economic transformation,” said the Minister of Finance in a press release, Wednesday (26/30). 15/6/2022).
