Party Democrat expressed a number of hopes for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after he attended the G20 Summit on the topic of climate change, energy, and the environment.
This hope was conveyed by the Democrats in a 2.15 minute video. The video was then uploaded by the Chairman of the Democratic Election Winning Body, Andi Arief in his tweet on his Twitter account, @Andiarief_ on Friday (5/11).
In the animated video, you can see the writings of various hopes from the Democrats towards Jokowi, who is now leading the G20 Presidency. Among the hopes, Jokowi reshuffled the ranks of the cabinet involved in the exploitation of nature.
Then, Democrats hope that Jokowi can evaluate all concessions involved in environmental destruction. The party with the symbol of mercy also hopes that, after accepting the G20 Presidency, Jokowi will close all these companies and punish them, including replacing all directors of SOEs who have contributed to environmental damage.
Furthermore, the Democrats also hope that Jokowi will immediately instruct the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H Laoly to immediately draft a Perppu on the Minerba Law and review all policies that give the red carpet to black corporations and black investments.
“This is the hope of the Democrat Party cadres. Hope that the momentum of the G20 Presidency can restore the true identity of our president, a forestry scholar and nature lover with all his principles and ideals,“said one of the quotes in the video.
Democrats also asked Jokowi to imitate the first President of Indonesia, Sukarno, who pioneered the non-aligned movement to create a new world. According to Democrats, Jokowi could repeat that after leading the G20.
“We want you to look dashing as an officer when you lead the G20 Summit in Bali later. You can clap your chest on climate change, because there’s no more policy junk on your desk and power junk on your backseat,” the Democrats said in a statement.
For information, Jokowi officially accepted the G20 presidency on Sunday (10/30 in Rome, Italy). On that occasion, Jokowi said the next G20 meeting would be held in Bail.
“Indonesia is honored to continue the G20 presidency in 2022. The G20 presidency in Indonesia will encourage joint efforts for world economic recovery with the theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger‘,” said Jokowi in the video of the acceptance of the G20 presidency published on the Youtube of the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.
In the series of agendas for the G20 summit in the Italian capital, Jokowi stated that the group of countries is an example for the world in dealing with climate change.
“Indonesia wants the G20 to set an example, Indonesia wants the G20 to lead the world, in working together to tackle climate change and manage the environment sustainably with concrete actions,” said Jokowi in La Nuvola, Rome, Sunday (31/10).
The G20, he stressed, must be the catalyst for the green recovery and ensure that no one is left behind.
Jokowi also said the handling of climate change must move forward in line with the handling of various other global challenges such as poverty alleviation and the achievement of the SDGs targets.
