The Rhône on drought alert

After a “period of intense drought” in 2022 and a winter season marked by a significant lack of rain, the Rhône prefecture announced that it was placing the department and the metropolis of Lyon on “drought vigilance” on April 12.

A decision that comes earlier this year than in 2022. The vigilance stage was only decreed at the end of April.

By this decision, the prefecture intends to “alert on the sensitivity of water resources and invite users – individuals, industrialists, farmers, communities – to use water sparingly”, she explained.

It also specified that “if the situation does not improve”, measures to restrict the use of water could be put in place.
