Reuters: Has reached out to trapped miners in India
Rescue workers have dug their way to the trapped miners in India, reports Reuters.
They are immediately ready to transport the workers out.
Earlier on Tuesday, Indian authorities said they were only five meters away from reaching the 41 workers who have been trapped for more than two weeks.
Much of the excavation has been done by hand.
– We expect the rescue operation to be completed soon, said Pushkar Singh Dhami, head of Uttarakhand state, earlier on Tuesday.
The 4.5 kilometer long mine shaft collapsed in the early morning of 12 November. Since then, food and medicine have been brought in for the 41 workers while the excavation has been ongoing.
