Daimler share in demand in the strong market

The papers rose in the strong DAX 30 in the early afternoon by 4.50 percent to EUR 28.80 and were the third strongest value in the leading index after Deutsche Bank and Lufthansa. However, the papers still haven’t made it above the 30 euro mark again. But that would be a serious attempt at bottoming out, given the recent course, after dropping in the course of the corona panic from around 44 euros in February to just over 21 euros in March.

As production director Markus Schäfer told “Bild am Sonntag”, he is “confident” after Daimler sold around 50,000 vehicles in China in March alone. In addition, car production started again on that day in the factories in Sindelfingen and Bremen.

Several dealers assessed the statements positively and referred to the automaker’s 2019 sales in its largest sales market. “A total of 693,000 cars were sold in China last year, or an average of 57,000 a month,” one of them calculated. “This suggests that demand in March was already 88 percent of the monthly average of 2019.”
