KIEV – The team Ukraine which uses aid precision artillery United States of America (USA), managed to damage a bridge vital to military supplies Russia in Cherson. This was announced by the Ukrainian military, as well as issuing threats to Russia.

“The successful missile attack on the bridge over the Dnipro River by #UAarmy creates an impossible dilemma for the Russian occupiers in #Kherson,” tweeted the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

“Resign or be annihilated by #UAarmy. The choice is theirs,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense threatened as quoted from USA TodayThursday (28/7/2022).

The bridge is one of two crossings over the river that Russia uses to transport personnel and equipment into the territory it occupies.

“The attack was not aimed at destroying the bridge but to make it impossible for the Russian military to use it,” said Nataliya Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for Ukraine’s Southern Operations Command.

Quoted from The Guardian, videos and witness accounts show up to 18 explosions on the Antonivskiy Bridge over the Dnieper River, one of Russia’s main supply routes to Kherson, with Russian anti-missile air defenses apparently failing to intercept the attack. A second railway bridge upstream was also hit.

The Ukrainian armed forces published a one-minute clip on Telegram showing rocket fire at the bridge at its target after 01:00 on Wednesday. “The moment of flight over the Antonivskiy Bridge,” the trooper said.

A senior presidential adviser to Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Anton Gerashchenko, quoted the Ukrainian armed forces in an update posted on Wednesday morning: “(The missile system) HIMARS deals another powerful blow to one of the two bridges, which the invaders use for massive troop transfers. Let’s hope this time the Antonivskiy Bridge will not withstand the attack power of the HIMARS missiles.”

The deputy head of the Russian-established regional authority in Kherson, Kirill Stremousov, spoke to Russian media on Wednesday morning, confirming that the bridge was fired upon but claiming that it was still standing.
