Retirement of doctors generate lists of up to 80 vacancies per month in IMSS Coahuila

Up to 80 monthly retirements are recorded by the Mexican Social Security Institute in Coahuila, which causes long lists of vacancies, waiting to be filled in the different clinics and Family Medicine Units of the IMSS.

According to delegate Leopoldo Santillán, although 400 health professionals were required, only 370 could be hired in the last Medical Drafts that were held in Mexico City.

“We achieved 370 specialists out of the 400 required, obviously there have been movements”said.

However, he assured that the list of retirement requests for doctors who have completed their working life continues to grow.

“Of retirees, it is a long list, we are having an average of 70 to 80 doctors per month”said.

He explained that at the next meeting of doctors, which is a graduate fair in Mexico City, 400 specialists will be sought.

“There is a job market that we have been hiring, but they are also retiring”said.

To this end, there are multiple calls in an effort to reduce the shortage of doctors in the IMSS clinics.

It was recently that the federal government recognized the lack of special doctors in geriatrics, oncology, emergencies, internists, among others.
