Results from UFC 299 with Sean O’Malley

On Sunday night, UFC 299 will go down during a gala at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. Check out live results from the gala in the article below.

Sean O’Malley defends his belt for the first time against Marlon Vera at UFC 299

In the main match at this weekend’s gala will be the bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley to defend his belt for the first time in a rematch against Marlon Vera. The men meet after the Ecuadorian defeated O’Malley in their first match via TKO in round 1. The loss in August 2020 at UFC 252 is the champion’s only one of his career so far.

O’Malley captured the belt in August after he was knocked out Aljamain Sterling. This was the American’s sixth match without a loss.

Vera has five wins in 6 attempts but lost his penultimate match against Cory Sandhagen in March last year. Most recently defeated the Ecuadorian Pedro Munhoz in August by judgment.

Dustin Poirier goes important match against Benoît Saint Denis

In the gala’s co-main event, we get to see the former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier meet the French talent Benoît Saint Denis. We will then rarely be invited to a five-rounder, even though the match is not for a title.

Saint Denis enters the match with a five-game winning streak in the Octagon, all of which have come via finish. He is currently ranked 12th in the lightweight class.

Poirier, in turn, has two losses in three matches. This after the completion of Charles Oliveira and lastly Justin Gaethje but in between defeated Michael Chandler. Poirier fought for the lightweight belt against Oliveira in 2021 and before that against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2019. Even then, Poirier lost.
