The Christmas card is displeasing to progressive Americans who find it distasteful to pose with guns so soon after the tragedy in Michigan that left four students dead and seven injured.
“I remember Republicans angrily exclaiming that it was insensitive to try to protect people from gun violence after a tragedy,” Massie’s Democratic colleague John Yarmuth wrote on Twitter, referring to the gun debate that often takes place after tragedy. “Now they openly rub the murder of children in our faces as if they scored a touchdown. Shameful.”
