On September 5, the new Toulouse station was inaugurated. A multimodal hub made accessible, ready for the arrival of the TGV and metro line C.

There is always something happening on the Occitanie rail network. The region, as we know, relies heavily on rail with visible effects on attendance. More trains and more passengers, strongly encouraged by attractive fares and improved service. It remains to receive all these travelers in good conditions, starting of course with the stations. On this chapter, it is not the Occitanie region which has the upper hand, but rather the SNCF through Gares & Connexions. Even if there is close collaboration between the transport organizing authority and the operator, it is up to the SNCF to manage the good quality of reception at the station. And it’s not always as simple as it seems, when it comes to an old lady who has been hard at work since… 1856.

At the heart of present and future transport challenges, the Toulouse-Matabiau station really needed to be redesigned and adapted to its new missions. With the construction of the new TGV line from Bordeaux, which will allow you to reach the capital in just 3 hours, the number of travelers is expected to experience strong growth. On a local scale, TER and Intercity traffic is also increasing, placing the Toulouse metropolitan area at the heart of a vast network of exchanges. In the metropolis, construction of the third metro line has been launched, with a connection at the Marengo-SNCF station between lines A and C. In addition to the adjoining bus station for regional coaches, several Tisséo bus lines arrive in front and behind the passenger building.
