Resident Evil 2 of 2019 was a critical and commercial success while successfully modernizing and redefining the foundations of a work released in 1998 on the first Sony console. The developers at Capcom then decided to review the original product from A to Z by changing many aspects of the game, starting with the addition of a new camera: the camera on the shoulder. But it looks like this remake could have been totally different.
In a recent video devoted to Resident Evil 2 of 2019, the developers confessed to having had a number of ideas which were not kept in the final version of the game starting with the abandonment of an FPS view. Indeed, Resident Evil 2 Remake had to look more like Resident Evil VII since the latter had to take advantage of a first-person camera. A return to fixed perspective was also discussed in order to stick to the letter to the original game. But these different cameras have given way to the one we have today, that is to say a third-person camera found in particular in Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
The title was also to welcome new infected. The latter must have been terrifying creatures who responded to the sweet name of “condemned”. They were to appear in particular during the sequence of the orphanage, but after having realized some art concepts, the team decided to put this idea aside. The Tyrant also had to look different and wear a military uniform, but to get closer to the 1998 edition, the developers decided to stick to the character’s original design.
