Liputan6.com, South Korea – South Korean epidemiologists have recently discovered that people are more likely to contract the causative SARS-CoV-2 virus COVID-19 from family members at home rather than outside contacts.
A study published at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 16, 2020 looked in detail at 5,706 ‘index patients’ who were confirmed positive COVID-19, and has made contact with more than 59 thousand people.
The findings show that only two out of 100 people are infected COVID-19 from non-household contacts. While one in 10 people contract the disease from their own families.
Viewed from the age group, the infection rate in the household mostly occurs in the adolescent or elderly age group around 60 to 70s.
